I would prefer Java over .NET... simply because apps built on java are more stable than .NET.

The database platform Oracle is actually built on Java. and most of the enterprise apps i know are also built on java.

interesting question, actually masyadong competitive ang market between those 2. at hindi lang yun.. among software talaga in general. lahat kaliwa't kanan ang mga job openings. so ikaw kelangan mo aralin bawat isa sa kanila.
