I am new to that technology as well.. but as far as i know.... SpagoBI is an integration platform focused on business intelligence needs at the enterprise level. It's a full open source solution (no professional edition). Just like any BI tools available in the market today, SpagoBI offers a complete analytical layer (e.g.: reporting dimensional analysis -OLAP-, data mining, dashboards, free and visual data inquiring) with many solution for every area, allowing the end-user to compose the platform best suited for him/her, also mixing open source and proprietary products in order to maximize the overall ROI.

It's fairly something new... but who knows the trend would be right?

i heard about it along side with jaspersoft. SpagoBI claims that it is "the only 100% open source, complete and flexible BI suite." According to their website, SpagoBI includes engines for reporting, multidimensional analysis (OLAP), charts, KPI, location intelligence, data mining, real-time dashboards, mobile, master data management, ETL and more... Mostly common features of other BI tools as well and what i like about it is that it says, it's Operating System OS Independent.
