Web Architect Developer
(National Capital Reg)


Responsibilities:


Under the general supervision of the Head of the Manila Service Center and the direct supervision of the head of software and development Unit, the Web Architect/Developer will be responsible for leading the Java technical team for web-based and web services projects His/her main tasks may include planning, design, development and maintenance of various web enabled applications related to Mimosa and other migrant operational applications.


Specifically, he/she will have the following duties and responsibilities:


Formulate plans, timelines, milestones and enumerate deliverables for assigned projects;
Create proof of concepts, architectural analysis, design and implementation of web-based applications using Java/J2EE technology;
Propose and implement technological standards and best practices related to J2EE development;
Lead the Java team in areas such as technological choices/evaluation, resource allocation, time management, and implementation of best practices;
Coordinate with other team leaders and business users to ensure smooth interoperability between the various migrant applications;
Coordinate closely with vendors implementing various Java applications to ensure that non-functional requirements are met and IOM standards are adhered to;
Provide maintenance and support for existing applications assigned to him/her;
Provide periodical status reports on various projects within his/her scope;
Conduct exams and interviews for incoming Java applicants;
Any other tasks within the incumbent’s capacity as requested by the supervisor.
Requirements:

Must have at least 6 years experience working on J2EE software development projects. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related course preferred. At least 2-3 years experience leading a team through all phases of the software development cycle.


Must be proficient and experienced in using or working with the following technologies and/or concepts:


Java (J2EE), Javascript, HTML
Object-oriented analysis and design
UML modeling and documentation
Gang of Four (GoF) Design Patterns
Web application performance optimization
Web application security
XML
Web Services
Web Frameworks (Struts, Tapestry)
Spring
Hibernate
JDBC
JUnit
SQL Server 2000/2005
Oracle 9+
BEA Weblogic 9+, Tomcat 5+
SVN
Hardware sizing
Applicants should be Filipino citizens or hold relevant residence status.
