paano po ba yang warranty service ng WD? kelangan pa ba iregister online yung nabili mong product sa kanila? What if hindi ka nakapagregister online at mag walk through ka nalang sa makati? tatanggapin din kaya nila yun?

Question guys, hanggang ilan years pa warranty pag sinabi mong distro warranty? What i mean is diba pag bumili tayo ng brandnew na hard disk itatago natin yung resibo for 3 years, tapos after mag lapse na yung 3 years nung resibo... mga ilan years pa remaning cover ng distro warranty after mag lapse ng 3 years warranty sa resibo?

Alam ko pag distro warranty same lang ng  wd/factory warranty

if wd/factory warranty is 3 years
1 - year sa store mismo kung saan mo binili yung hard disk mo... (store warranty is less - most likely 1year)
then after one year the 2years yung remaining warranty will handle by the distro or wd

paano po ba yang warranty service ng WD? kelangan pa ba iregister online yung nabili mong product sa kanila? What if hindi ka nakapagregister online at mag walk through ka nalang sa makati? tatanggapin din kaya nila yun?

Eto po step step process:

How to (a Step-by-step Guide) : Western Digital Hard Drive Warranty/RMA (Philippines only)

Do you have an old defective Western Digital hard drive? Don’t throw it away or sell it off just yet. It might still have manufacturer’s warranty.  Normally these drives are covered by three (3) or five (5) years manufacturer’s warranty depending on the model.

If your defective Western Digital hard drive is still in-warranty then you can have it replaced for free! How? Read my guide below:

1. First is to obtain the serial # of your defective hard drive. This is usually proceeded by a “S/N:” or “SN:” and located on the sticker label on top of a bare desktop or laptop hard drive or at the back of an external/portable drive.

See sample pics below:

2. The next step is to check the warranty status of your defective hard drive online via the Western Digital support website. Visit the link below:

https://westerndigital.secure.force.com/WarrantyCheck?lang=en

3. On the WD warranty check for End User webpage, select Philippines for the Country then type in the serial # of your defective hard drive then click Continue.

4. The result will display the serial # of the drive then the model then the warranty status then lastly the warranty expiry date.

Please take note what is listed under the warranty status, below are the 4 common possible results that you may get:

In Limited Warranty: this simply means that your defective hard drive is still covered by the WD warranty and that you can have it replaced for free. Warranty Exp Date will tell you when will the warranty will lapse.

Out of Limited Warranty: this simple means that your defective hard drive is out of warranty. Now you can throw it away or sell if off for recycling.

No Limited Warranty: this means that your defective hard drive was originally sold as a system component of a branded desktop or laptop computer. These drives do not have any warranty from WD. Instead their warranty is covered by the manufacturer of the branded desktop or laptop computer. For example, if your drive came from a Dell computer then the warranty of the hard drive is the same as the warranty of the whole computer unit and will be covered by Dell.

Out of Region: this simply means that your defective hard drive was not locally distributed or purchased abroad. These drives are not accepted for warranty by the local WD Service Center. You may need to return it to the country where you originally purchased it for warranty. [UPDATE] Or if you have a copy of any Proof of Purchase of your defective hard drive, you can email WD support and have the warranty transferred locally.

There are other warranty status results but its very unlikely for you to encounter them. For your additional information, visit the link below:

https://websupport.wdc.com/help/help_warrstatus.asp?lang=en

Important Note: There are cases that when you check the warranty of a bare desktop or laptop hard drive and it is In Limited Warranty but when you check the model, it does’t match… usually it ends in SESN, PESN, etc. This simply means the drive is part of a WD external/portable hard drive product. So if you only have the bare drive and not the complete product then warranty is automatically voided. Always check the model listed and should match with what’s listed on the WD product.

5. Now that you have confirmed that your defective Western Digital hard drive still have valid warranty, the next step is registering it online and creating an RMA request. To do this, visit the link below:

https://westerndigital.secure.force.com/ind/?lang=en

Then click Register Now.

Create an new account. If you already have an account, simply login.

Upon logging-in, click Product Registration then on the next page click Register New Products. On the next page, simply type in the serial # of your defective hard drive, Date of Purchase (any date actually) and where purchased (choose locally purchased) then click Continue.

On the next page select the Point of Purchase, you can leave the Date of Purchase blank then click Register Product.

Then click the RMA tab above then click Standard Replacement. Put a check mark beside the serial # of your defective hard drive then select the appropriate reason under the Return Reason drop-down menu then click Continue. In the last page, take note of the RMA number.

After you have registered and created an RMA request for your defective Western Digital hard drive, you can now bring it to the Western Digital Service Center for replacement:

Primasiana Phils., Inc.
Address: 2111 Don Chino Roces Avenue corner Export Ave Makati
Contact #: new ones are 02-511-1712 / 0925-852-1049; old number 4031490/4031328 are already disconnected.
Office hours: 9AM-7PM (Mon to Fri), 8AM-12NN (Sat)

Western Digital have contracted this company to process the warranty of all local Western Digital hard drive products only. So if its not a hard drive then don’t bother bringing it to them.

These drives must be locally distributed by any of the local authorized distributors of Western Digital hard drive products. I mentioned this because there are cases that some retail computer stores will not get their supplies from these authorized distributors and get them from other sources. If this will be the case then they will not be accepted for warranty and I suggested to bring it back to the store where you purchased it for warranty.

Side notes:

The duration of the replacement process will depend on available stocks. If they have stocks on hand they you will just have to wait for around 10-15 minutes to receive your replacement. If no stocks available, it will take around a few days or weeks depending on stock availability.
ServCare will only replace your defective hard drive. They will not repair or recover any data from your defective hard drive.
If you live very far or do not have the time to visit ServCare then you have the option of having your drive shipped via local courier. Please call them up first for the arrangement and details. You will shoulder the shipping cost of sending your defective hard drive to them plus the cost of sending the replacement back to you. Replacement is free, shipping is not.. just fyi. Total cost will depend which courier you will use so inquire first.
Your replacement drive usually will be a recertified unit instead of a brand new one. Recertified units are factory-refurbished/repaired units.  Depending on how you look at it, they are as good as brand new ones. Rarely that you will receive a brand new unit as replacement. When I say rarely, its like lotto-winning-combination-rare. And sometimes you will have the option to get a different model but same capacity. Different model as in newer model or downgraded model, its really up to you to accept it or not.
The warranty expiry date of your replacement drive will be the same of your original one. When you check the warranty date of your replacement drive and see ‘Out of Limited Warranty’ or 'No Limited Warranty’, do not worry and wait at least a week or two for the warranty date to be adjusted.
For bare drives, no special packaging needed unless you are shipping it. Wrapping it in plastic or paper will do. Anti-static plastic is recommended but not necessary. For external/portable hard drives, you only need to send/bring the unit only and the power adaptor (if its not USB-powered). Do not included the data cables or other accessories.
Drives with physical damage are automatically voided.
