About Singapore Employment Contracts

Hi everyone,

I just thought sharing this information. I have lots of IT friends who work for singapore and i suggest you study the contract that is offered to you before you land a job offer.

Things to consider and look for in a contract:

1. There should be no bonds, especially those having in ridiculous amounts. (i.e., several thousands of S$ or several months of your monthly salary).

2. You can allow yourself to be tied to a contract, but it should just be for a yr or 2 and your resignation notice should be strictly 30 days only.

3. As above, Notice Period is only 30 days, nothing more. If this is the case who else will hire you for another job is you plan to transfer to another company diba? 30 days is the standard notice period. Anything less than that is something for discussion.

4. You should be entitled to annual leaves. Leaves are important because this is the only chance you could go back to your motherland.

I guess we can ask some of our friends here to add especially the ones living in singapore.
