Did you know that WordCamp Philippines is organizing a WordCamp event on 6 September 2008 (Saturday) at College of St. Benilde Taft Ave., Manila Philippines?

Yep, that’s right. According to WordCamp Philippines Website, this would be the first-time that WordCamp event be organized and held in Asia. So if you are wordpress fanatic, a blog enthusiast, developer or curious about blogging and about wordpress, then this event is for you. As for me, since the amount is somewhat big and beyond my budget, i guess i would just have to volunteer to other available roles -> maybe i would volunteer for publicizing and advertising =). Leading the said conference would be a group of Filipino bloggers based in Mindanao who were also responsible for organizing the successful 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit held last year. The WordCamp Philippines’ primary objective is

to encourage more developers to use and deploy WordPress, not only as a blogging engine but also as a full-featured content management system for Web sites. Another is to increase the number of WordPress users and developers in the country. By developers, we mean programmers of WordPress plugins and designers of themes & templates.

To summarize, the WordCamp event will have the following components:

• Deployment (Usage) Track -> on wordpress installation and implementation
• Development Track -> those into programming
• Panel Discussions -> questions and answer portion
• WP Install-Fest -> Lab
• After Party! -> drinks and meal galore
